Hi, David
It sounds strange for me that all my categories are hidden or deleted. I have created but now it disappeared. What’s the problem?
I hope that you can guide me more about this.
Oh, did you finish your update? I really want to see it.
Thank you,
Ratanak
Stallion Theme Support
You need to explain support issues in more detail than the above, needle in a haystack comes to mind. For example what where you doing when it broke, any new plugins, any error messages when logged into the Dashboard etc…
I took a look at your site and not sure what the issue is, only thing I noticed was your articles on the home page are all added to the Uncategorised category and the links are missing (the Uncategorised word should be linked).
Only time I’ve seen something like this (not seen that before, but seen similar) is when part of a database has crashed. Check your MySQL databases is running correctly, if not fix it.
You might find this SQL query helpful in repairing a table if one has crashed:
REPAIR TABLE `wp_posts`You’d use this when logged into your control panel or similar where you can enter SQL queries (I have no idea how for your site). The above will repair the table wp_posts if that’s the table that’s crashed, if wp_term_taxonomy crashed repair it.
Also try disabling all plugins, see if it helps.
I’m reasonably confident this won’t be a Stallion issue. You can confirm this by activating the TwentyEleven theme and see if the issue remains, if it does it’s not Stallion.
Still working on the update, will be announced on the mailing list when complete.

In fact, I don’t want to have comment on the Privacy policy but I could not find a place to lock it. If you know I hope you tell me because I am just new in making a blog.
Regarding to my Categories, I have created many for my originals but it was deleted or hidden and all posts go to Uncategorise. It is so strange. I never use MySQL and I don’t know whether I can do it or not.
But I really thank for your help,

The Google Analytics Asynchronous Tracking Code
For whatever reason (most likely my fault, something I am not doing right), Google analytics works like a charm, but I have been having trouble verifying google webmaster tools except the old way (uploading a file to ftp but not via Stallion).
Maybe in the future you could use the The Google Analytics Asynchronous Tracking Code which is newer and faster and links Google analytics to webmaster tools and maybe Adsense?
Minor point but for drilling down on analytics linking those three accounts can be useful and I think recently Google has created this The Google Analytics Asynchronous Tracking Code.

Google Analytics AdSense Tracking
Stallion 7.0 (the update I’m working on warranted a version 7 rather than 6.3) includes the new Google Analytics AdSense Tracking code. So that will be available soon (working on releasing Stallion 7.0 this month).
I’m currently in perfection mode trying to remove ALL PHP notices from Stallion, most of the plugin code I’ve added had loads of PHP notices and warnings, that though don’t stop the code working correctly isn’t ideal (fixed most of it).
Your verifying Google webmaster tools problem sounds like a caching issue. I had this problem myself when running Stallion 6.2 and WP Super Cache Plugin, basically when I viewed source of the code when logged in the correct Webmaster Tools Verification code was present, but when logged out it wasn’t. I have WP Super Cache set not to cache when a logged in user is accessing a site, which meant because the cache wasn’t immediately updating after I save the Stallion options (why would it) Google Webmaster Tools which isn’t a logged in user was seeing the cache which lacked the verification code. I either had to wait for WP Super Cache to regenerate the cache of the home page or manually regenerate it (I use the latter technique).
There was also a problem in Stallion 6.1 where I’d not taken into account users with a static front page (set under “Settings >> Reading” – “A static page (select below)”) instead of the default archived home page, that was fixed in Stallion 6.2. That was an issue because I have the webmaster tools verification only to load on the home page for those who add it and don’t remove it after verification – there’s no reason to keep it after it’s verified and we certainly don’t need it loaded sitewide. In Stallion 7.0 I’ve set the update database code to clear the content on the verification codes, so if users forget to remove it when they do an update it will be cleared.
I’ve also removed Yahoo Webmaster Tools verification (no longer exists) and added Alexa verification.

How To Change Your FeedBurner Feed Address Without Losing Your Readers
Hi David,
I’m having an issue with my feedburner. I changed my blog’s domain.
Old domain = www.vivirencanadahoy.com
New domain = www.vivirencanada.com
Then, I went and changed the feedburner:
Old feed details:
Feed title: Vivir en Canadá Hoy
Original Feed:http://vivirencanadahoy.com/feed/
Feed Address:http://feeds.feedburner.com/vivirencanadahoy
New feed details:
Feed title: Vivir en Canadá
Original Feed:http://vivirencanada.com/feed/
Feed Address:http://feeds.feedburner.com/vivirencanadacom
I’m using the widget Stallion RSS Feeds Widget, but every time I hit the icon/link “Article RSS Feed” it takes me to the old feed, and I got the following errors (it takes me to the old feed)
There has been an error of some kind. Ack! FeedBurner could not deliver this feed to you because of the specific problem listed below:
Feed Address:
HTTP Error (Code) and Message: (404) Feed not found error: FeedBurner cannot locate this feed URI.
I used FeedMedic in Google feedburner, but it reports all is OK:
No FeedMedic notices exist for this feed. Apparently, it’s been quite healthy. Well done on your part!
If I update the Feedburner like this (changed domain, but keep last part of the feed address, it works):
Original Feed:http://vivirencanada.com/feed/
Feed Address:http://feeds.feedburner.com/vivirencanadahoy
Initially I thought it was widget issue, but now I’m convinced it’s Feedburner… however, I remember having changed the last part of the Feedburner address (from blogcanadiense to vivirencanadahoy) e.g when my blog was called blogcanadiense and I changed to vivirencanadahoy.
How could I change the last part of the Feed Address without losing current readers?
Thanks
Héctor
P.S: The only difference to when I changed domains in my previous attempt, I was using Stallion 6.0 or so. For my second change of domain I’m using Stallion 6.2 (I don’t this it does matter though)

WordPress Website Caching Issues
Either you’ve fixed the RSS feed link (the link is which loads http://feeds.feedburner.com/vivirencanadacom now) because the new feed is loading correctly (I think that’s the feedburner feed you want to load) or it’s a caching issue on your PC.
Try CTRL F5 a few times while on your home page and see where the link goes.
I didn’t see any indication of a caching plugin used, but if you are using one try regenerating the cache as well.

How to add RSS Autodiscovery to your site
Hi David,
I’m trying to add my new blog to a blog directory, and it’s being rejected. This directory says:
“[Blogdirectory] uses Autodiscovery to determine your Blog’s RSS Feed. Please allow up to 2 hours for your site to be crawled for new RSS data.”
Then, there is a hyperlink to http://www.petefreitag.com/item/384.cfm
Where I read:
————————————————
How to add RSS Autodiscovery to your site
June 15, 2005
web
I sometimes see web sites or blogs that have RSS feeds, but fail to include the one line of HTML that enables RSS autodiscovery. Even some well known blogs such as 37 Signals – Signal Vs Noise omit the feature. Jason Kottke’s blog has autodiscovery support on the main page, but not on his entry pages.
Adding that one line of code to your template will make it easier for people to subscribe to your RSS feed. Here’s how:
The above link tag should be added inside the head tag of your HTML document.
You will of course need to change the value of the title and href attributes to fit your needs.
————————————————–
Is that something I should do in my Stallion-theme or it could break things in my blog?
Thanks
Héctor
Stallion WordPress Theme Feature Requests
WordPress RSS Autodiscovery Code
RSS Autodiscovery is built into Stallion already.
Under “Stallion >> Layout Options”, section “Advanced WordPress Settings >> Clean the Header Code” untick “automatic-feed-links Off: Removes Automatic Feed Links (OFF).”
You’ll see code like this in the head when viewing source:
<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="Stallion 6.1 Test Site » Feed" href="http://www.stallion-theme.com/feed" /><link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="Stallion 6.1 Test Site » Comments Feed" href="http://www.stallion-theme.com/comments/feed" />
This covers the main RSS feed and the comments feed.
This isn’t built into WordPress by default (it’s available, but requires code adding to the theme or a plugin to activate), for non-Stallion theme users add this to the bottom of your functions.php file:
<?php add_theme_support( 'automatic-feed-links' );?>David

Thanks David.
I made the change. Just need to wait for the blog to be included.

Using A Custom Graphic image for Navigation Box
Hello! I am new to Stallion, so any advice is greatly appreciated!
1) Navigation from boxes to custom images – On the ‘Delicate theme’ (a good basic theme BTW for designer to hack a little CSS and make something creative), I am trying to replace the navigation boxes which I believe is “navigation.gif” then repeat X, – with a picture of a leaf. The leaf will could contain the text in the image.
The issue is I uploaded the leaf image and called it ‘navigation.gif’, to replace the gradient sliver that you use to create the top navigation boxes. However, much to my dismay nothing changes.
2) Vertical navigation -Further, is there any way I can make the navigation bar go down the side?
For example, on my current site which I created with iweb, you can see what I am trying to do with the leaf: http://www.leafyourlove.com/ it goes down vertically? I imagine that is a CSS ‘project’. (My test site is here: BTW.
3) For the blog area of my website, that is SEO landing pages, I might just create template pages that look different from my “business card area of my website” – Any suggestions about this are welcome. For example, is it better to use a layout with no side bars on the home page, contact etc pages, and then in the ‘blog’ area use template pages that have sidebars? I guess I want some style variation in my website, one area with sidebars and one without.
Stallion WordPress Theme Feature Requests
WordPress Custom Navigation Menu Widgets and Layouts
If you mean the navigation links below the header area they are completely CSS based. In the style-delicate.css file find:
.navigators ul {list-style: none;
And you are in the right place to find the CSS to edit. As you can see there’s a lot of CSS code for generating the dropdown menus and colours (all the lines starting “.navigators”). I think it would be a major undertaking to convert those links to image links and maintain the dropdown menu etc… I don’t think I’ve seen a WordPress site do this?
If you play around with
.navigators a {background: #ECECEC;
background: -moz-linear-gradient(#ECECEC, #F9F7F7);
background: -o-linear-gradient(#ECECEC, #F9F7F7);
background: -webkit-gradient(linear, 0% 0%, 0% 100%, from(#ECECEC), to(#F9F7F7));
-webkit-box-shadow: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0) 0px 1px 2px;
-moz-box-shadow: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0) 0px 1px 2px;
box-shadow: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.2) 0px 1px 2px;
border-top: 3px solid #ECECEC;
color: #808080;
This generates the gradient colours, maybe adjusting them will give you something close to what you want to achieve. Looks like you’ve figured this bit out for yourself
The navigation.gif image doesn’t do what you think, for some colour schemes it’s the background image for the sidebar headings, so goes behind Categories, Links, Meta etc… As it happens that file isn’t used by Delicate, used CSS instead because the colours are simple.
The top menu navigation area would be difficult to convert to what you want, dropdown on the side, you’d probably be better building something more customised using the Custom Menu System under “Appearance >> Menus” and use the custom menu on a sidebar via “Appearance >> Widgets” and create some CSS for it. Or even use Text Widgets under “Appearance >> Widgets” if you are happy to loose some of the dynamic nature of the WordPress sidebars.
With Text Widgets you could generate a side menu similar to your other site, build the HTML as you want it linking to the pages you want to link to etc…. and add it as one or more Text Widgets to the Left or right sidebar widget area. You’d need to switch layouts to one of the 300px wide layouts under “Stallion >> Layout Options” to have the left or right sidebar area available.
With regards which layouts to use, I like the 300px wide single sidebars. On mixing things up through a site, I’m working on the Stallion 7.0 update which extends the WordPress template system. If you’ve played around with the Static Page Template system you’ll be severely disappointed WordPress core doesn’t use the same template system for Blog Posts! In Stallion 7.0 this is possible, every Static Page and Blog Post can choose a different template. Also I’ve added category templates, these generate different outputs based on category template files for each category. And I’ve added more control over widgets, currently when a widget is added to a widget area it’s shown sitewide, in Stallion 7.0 each widget can be included/excluded from pretty much every type of page type.
I’ve not added the ability to select the different Stallion layouts on a page by page basis, but want to in a future update. In Stallion 6.2 I added a Static Page/Blog Post Template (called “Static Page Blank Sales No Sidebars” filename page-sales.php) that overrides the selected layout.
Basically it’s a file that contains the content of header.php, page.php, sidebar.php and footer.php with the layout set to no sidebars (1000px wide – file style-1000.css), the left and right sidebar code is removed (so the left and right sidebar widgets don’t load at all) and the header code cut down. The idea is for users to paste an entire page into the WordPress edit form (hence sales page). This concept could be used now to generate templates for all the layouts, but without stripping out all sidebars and header code. I didn’t do this in Stallion 6.2 because the template system only works for Static Pages and most content on a WordPress site is added via Blog Posts (a lot of work for little usage). In Stallion 7.0 it’s worth creating templates like these, so might if I find the time make a start on this soon.
I’m trying to get Stallion 7.0 released this month, it’s been a LOT of work and because there’s been so many new features it’s meant a LOT of bug hunting, so these new features (and more) are coming soon.

Focused keyword content addon - for polished content
You got me thinking about creating better copy. Not only from increasing the focus on my pages in terms of keywords, but also toning down articles that might be over-SEOed.
What I found was something like this – inboundwriter.com. It is basically a keyword helper, but a little more eloquent and in a live mode lets you compose more targeted content with setting for Adsense – target market (education level) and competitiveness.
Maybe it will not help me write better copy but it might make me more cognizant of focus.
I also think in the spirit of LSI (latent semantic indexing techniques) a thesaurus or deploying antonyms/synonyms suggestion tool would help prevent over using words and take it a step further. It would also function to let the search engines feel you are a natural or sophisticated writer (everyone likes reading a good English, it inspires me).
Which leads me to my point and suggestion. Do you think something like this,a plugin for Stallion or a component of Stallion would be of any value? I understand it would be a lot of work and might make it bulky, but if polished content is search engines like, maybe this would make your theme even more unique. That is, a tool to help people with quality content.

inboundwriter
I use Inboundwriter also.I have also cut back on my keywords.I am really researching my niche when i write articles,and adding LSI keywords.And making sure my content is worth reading.And my website rankings show it.I am taking an seo course and that helps.Also get natural links instead of buying links.I seem to be doing really well with traffic.
InboundWriter WordPress Plugin Review
I’ve wrote something about inboundwriter.com before and I wouldn’t use it.
The problem with WordPress plugins (any service) that looks at keyword density etc… is they look at the users content ONLY and not at what the theme and plugins output as well.
If this comment was a post let’s see how well optimized the main content and the title is for the single keyword “InboundWriter” on the Stallion SEO Super Comments page (link bottom right corner of this comment).
I’m not going to use the KEYWORD again, so the KEYWORD is used twice in the title tag and the KEYWORD is used twice in this body text.
So it’s used four times by the user (me) any other uses of the KEYWORD is due to Stallion (the theme) or plugins.
Go to the Stallion SEO Super comments page and count the number of times you see the KEYWORD.
I count 12 times not 4 times.
3 of the times are due to the Stallion Recent Comments Widget, when more comments are made that number will go up or down.
The main content density as seen within the edit post form is not the keyword density on the page output to Google. This is a super comments page not a proper blog post, blog posts are seamlessly integrated into WordPress so the density is ignoring internal links, headings and anything else that uses content from the posts. What happens if I have loads of posts about the KEYWORD, now we have links using the KEYWORD as anchor text within recent articles, recent comments, most popular widgets and the related articles plugin output which would push the density right up.
A good example is looking at any of this sites post that are optimized for SERPs including
Stallion, SEO, WordPress, Theme
There’s loads of posts and comment using those keywords and they dominate the anchor text of internal links. How could a plugin take this into account when only looking at the users content?

Stallion WordPress SEO Theme V7.0 Update
Stallion 7.0 is almost ready for release, the zip file is zipped and ready to go. All I need to do is test to look for code bugs missed in development.
Currently updating a dozen of my own sites with Stallion v7.0 and assuming no problems will release very soon (few days I hope).
Uploaded to one site so far:
http://www.45-year-old-millionaire.co.uk/
Have added the new Stallion SEO Posts Widget three times to generate the Popular Articles, Recent Articles and Random Articles widgets, you can see the new random thumbnails feature built into them as well (and all posts have thumbnails). Not had time to do many changes yet, but have activated the new built in Stallion All In One SEO Pack plugin and have added the 5 keyphrases etc… to a few posts, you can see the links to those posts are using a variety of anchor text now.
Next I think I’ll upload to http://www.free-recipe.co.uk/ which has 132,000 posts and NO images, will be perfect for testing the new random thumbnails feature.

Recent articles - recent updated
I know you are busy with Stallion 7. But for the future on your recent articles plugin, would there be any value to have a recent updated option?
Since Panda I have started to go back to my old weak posts and update and improve them. I believe a post with age has some value.
Therefore, as an added functionality to a recent articles widget could be an option to include recently modified posts. Therefore, it would spread some link benefit back to old posts you worked hard on revising and giving it some notoriety to users to let them know it has been updated.
If you want to do even more you could have a little comment bubble to the side that says ‘new’ or ‘updated’ next to each post in the widget, but it might be too much clutter. But sometimes when people have a yellow sticky note that says ‘updated’ I read it.

Stallion SEO Posts Widget - Recently Modified
I’ve stopped development on Stallion 7.0, just ironing out bugs etc… before the V7.0 release (before the end of the month I hope).
Recently modified is already built into the Stallion 7 SEO Posts widget. When a post is edited and saved it’s considered recently modified (updated).
