    Comment follow up box

“Notify me of followup comments via e-mail. You can also subscribe without commenting.” Does Stallion have this feature?

I need to spend even more time to figure out to keep the conversation going on my sites. I know there are a lot of plugins out there, but which ones really work.

We all have seen many specific examples of lame content propelled up by high comment activity.

    • Gurken Subscribe to Comments WordPress Plugin

I use Gurken Subscribe to Comments which is working out the box with Stallion so no real need to add it directly into Stallion.

I also try to avoid adding plugins that require their own settings page unless I’m adding new features that’s not part of the original, fixing bugs etc… The original Favicon plugin has it’s own options page, but I made a lot of code changes to the code used with Stallion, so had to add it as a built in plugin to have it working as I wanted. Same with the All In One SEO Pack Plugin, made loads of changes to the code.

    JetPack I am using

I can not believe I am saying this as I always thought WP plugin Jetpack was bloated but after trying some plugins for subscribe to comments, I tried the full version of Jetpack.

It has subscribe by mail widget and subscribe to post and comments box under the comment area. Hovercards which I like and Stats. So as long as it is not doing any SEO damage (none which I can see) I decided to use Jetpack for a few things.

  • Favicon plugin

I had the latest theme installed on one of my multisite, works fine except for the built-in favicon plugin. It’s not showing anywhere in the theme setting options. I have added “ico” to the allowed file types property on the “Super Admin -> Options” page but still it’s not showing. Is there any issue for certain plugin to work with wordpress multisite setup? Please advise. Thanks.

    • Stallion Favicons Plugin

Under Stallion Colour Options have you ticked

      Stallion Favicons ON

When on a new Stallion options page “Stallion Favicon” is added to the Stallion options pages.

Under the new options page you can select and upload favicons, shouldn’t be any need to add “ico” to the allowed file types, it works as is.

Most Stallion features that add something additional to the output (what your visitors see) of a site is off by default, when new features are added you have to turn them on.

After the next update (another big one) I’ll be working on new tutorials. Currently working on the ability to select a Layout and Colour scheme on a post by post basis. So you could have any post use any of the built in layouts and colour schemes (if I get the code working).

    Theme Keeps on switching back

I just finished setting up a site with this theme about 3 days ago and everything was working fine until yesterday. Twice already the theme kept on going back to it’s defaulted options. Twice I had to reconfigure everything back from the very beginning.

Is this something normal? Any idea what might cause this? I just don’t want to re-do it all over again. Thanks.

    • Stallion Theme Defaults

No that’s not normal and I don’t know of any reason why a Stallion site running a valid Stallion ID would revert to the defaults several days later.

Can you confirm what you mean by defaults? Is this all default options are reset like a brand new install or only the main Stallion options page?

There is ‘reset’ code built into Stallion, but it should only be activated by clicking the “Restore Default Main Settings” button on the main Stallion Options page. That button is for resetting everything if you’ve made a mistake for example. I recently had a customer reporting the same issue, turned out they kept clicking the wrong button when they tried to save changed options :-)

Could it be you’ve clicked the “Restore Default Main Settings” button during setup by mistake?

What I meant as default is, the theme went back to it’s original setup like as if it just got installed. All the settings are at those when you newly install it. License, google codes, clickbank id and all gone. So it’s kind of annoying for me to do this everytime. Just as I am replying to you now, I actually just finished re-configuring the site again. Yes…it happened again this morning. I had this theme running on my other sites but never had this problem before. I even have this theme running on multisites setup with MPP plugin and they work fine. It’s kind of strange for this thing to happen to me.

This is an old site which was not initially set up by me and it wasn’t working well. So I deleted everything and did a new wordpress installation and configuration. I can’t start driving traffic to it for now until I get this issue sorted out. Really need your help and expertise to this problem.
