It’s relatively easy to activate Stallion 6 as long as you know your transaction ID. After installing the Stallion 6 files click the activate link under “Appearance >> Themes” (like you would with any WordPress theme) followed by clicking the new “Stallion Theme” Menu below the “Appearance” menu.
On the main Stallion options page you will find two boxes, the top one is for your transaction ID from PayPal/Clickbank. If you aren’t sure which number to use (PayPal has two IDs and quite a few customers are using the wrong one) enter your email address (the one you used to order Talian/Stallion) into the second box and click the “Request Transaction ID” button, give it a minute and check your email for the reminder email. If you don’t receive the email within 15 minutes (check your SPAM folder) drop me an email/comment and I’ll email you your transaction ID **.
** Don’t post your transaction ID in a comment as it would mean anyone can activate Stallion with your ID and I’ll have to deactivate/change it. Just use the email address you ordered to contact me or as the email address for a comment and I can easily match you to the correct ID.
When you have the correct transaction ID add it into the top “Transaction ID” box and click the “Save Settings” button.
If you enter the correct ID everything will work as expected, if you enter the wrong ID Stallion will deactivate and TwentyTen will be reactivated. Ideally we’d have coded the theme to give a warning the ID was incorrect, but this is a new activation/copy protection system (my eldest son Cameron, who is studying computer programming at University wrote it from scratch), so maybe in a future update we’ll figure out a better way to handle incorrect IDs.
At least with this system you are 100% certain immediately if you have the right ID or not. In the first version it didn’t automatically deactivate and would deactivate only after the home page was loaded. That would have been even more confusing and would have resulted in users wasting time setting up Stallion options only to loose them after checking the home page!
