LinkWords and Chitika Ads
I am now signing up for LinkWords but I read in your theme, it said that LinkWords is not compatible with chitika ads. It means that one will appear while other will disappear or what?
Please tell me more detail !

Which Ad Networks to Use - AdSense, Chitika, Clickbank, Kontera, Infolinks, LinkWords
The Chitika and LinkWords ad code isn’t compatible, never figured out what the issue was, but was the javascript code they used, must be some overlap functions that means they can’t be used together.
The concept behind having 6 ad networks (and custom ads) within the Stallion theme isn’t so you can run all 6 ad networks plus other custom ads on one site, it’s so you have the option of choosing a set of ad networks that works best for a particular site.
If you add all 6 ad networks plus other ads not only are you going to overload your site with ads which is terrible from a user perspective, but also seriously slow down how fast your site loads (every ad network you add slows the site down) which can have a negative impact on your search engine rankings.
In general Stallion should be used as follows:
One primary ad network : AdSense, Chitika or Clickbank
One secondary ad network : Kontera, Infolinks or LinkWords
Custom ads….
From experience AdSense is better than Chitka and Chitika is better than Clickbank. Therefore when choosing a primary ad network prioritize AdSense first. For the secondary ad networks Kontera and Infolinks are similar, if you can get an account with one of them use them first.
If you’d prefer to confirm this for yourself run AdSense a week, Chitika a week and Clickbank a week with the same layouts and see which makes you most money (it’s always AdSense when I’ve run the tests).
I don’t like the Inlinks ad networks, I think they make a site look ad overloaded so don’t bother with them. I concentrate primarily on AdSense, but I always avoid going over the top on ad placement as trying to find a balance between making ad revenue, not irritating users (too many ads drives visitors a way) and not slowing the site down. It can be a difficult balancing act, I want the whole page to be an ad, but that will in the long term make less money.
For my 100 domains (run ads on around 95 of them) most run AdSense alone, those that are not suitable for the AdSense TOS (adult and gambling sites for example) run Chitika, none run Clickbank because Chitika has never declined one of my domains that I couldn’t run AdSense on.
In the future I’ll probably add more ad networks, Amazon for example and the same will hold for those, avoid overloading your site with ads, visitors hate it, search engines hate it.

Stallion SEO Recent Comments Widget with Gravatars
That would be the “Stallion SEO Recent Comments Widget” added under Appearance >> Widgets. I’ve included information about this widget on the right menu of this website, it’s directly above the “Stallion Recent Comments” menu item you want to replicate and says:
I added those descriptions so users know how I achieved the widgets layout of this website.
The actual avatars used is a WordPress core feature set under Settings >> Discussions at the bottom.
A lot of the information you are asking about is posted on the website already, can I suggest taking an hour or two to browse through the various tutorials so you have a better idea of what is possible with Stallion. You’ll never get the most out of Stallion asking these sorts of questions, best to read through the detailed tutorials and find general WordPress tutorials on Google as there’s a lot of core WordPress features you don’t want to miss out on.
I note by the time I responded to this question (few hours after you asked) you’d already found the Stallion SEO Recent Comments Widget and added it to your sidebar.

Kontera Ads Setup
Looks like you are using Kontera not Infolinks, see Stallion Theme Kontera In-Text Ads Tutorial where it says
Same with Infolinks Stallion Theme InfoLinks In Text Adverts Tutorial.
Yes Stallion works with sub-domains exactly the same as any domain.

You said that I can use this theme for my subdomain. so, it means that your theme that I bought could be used for many domain that I owned or I have to buy your theme again?
David,
I’m trying to directly upload the Stallion 6.2 theme to my new website and it will not upload (seems like it times-out)or acts like it’s still loading after a couple of minutes worth of uploading. Do I have to install 6.0 first then install the 6.2 uprade?
Thanks,
Randy
Installing Stallion SEO Theme v6.2
Stallion 6.2 doesn’t require an earlier version of Stallion to install.
I’m assuming you are using the WordPress built in theme installer to install the Stallion 6.2 zip file.
Sounds like your server is timing out, there’s various settings that allow a script etc… to run for X number of seconds (a lot of default settings are between 30 and 120 seconds) before timing out, if a server is running correctly those timeout values aren’t hit and everything runs fine, but a server under strain (too much traffic, over sold cheap hosting, loads of possible causes…) and services that are running are delayed and those timeouts can be hit.
Not a Stallion theme issue per se, but the Stallion 6.2 zip file is quite big, about 9MBs (which is big for a theme, it’s all the headers and banners, but not that big that it won’t install). If your server was having resource issues might be more likely to timeout than a smaller zip file since it takes longer to install.
Keep trying until it works, wait an hour to see if the server issues have resolved, if you find after a few tries it still fails and there’s no error messages use FTP to install instead.
If you do think it’s a server resource issue and it’s not a one off issue you’ll probably experience more problems in the future especially if you are installing autoblogs (think you do if I recall correctly), autoblogs can be resource hogs, quite a lot of reports online about hosting accounts being deleted due to using too many server resources!
You could also rule out a corrupt zip file, if you’ve used the zip file for another site it won’t be the zip file. Try extracting the zip file on your computer if there’s an error message the files corrupt, redownload and try again.
BTW best place for Stallion support is at Stallion Theme Support, you can find this link on the top navigation menu on the left with label “Stallion Theme Support” (it’s on every page of the site). I use a plugin for moving comments around, so if it’s posted to the wrong page I can move them, but the original commenter might find it harder to find my response that way, so best to put the support comment in the correct place to start with. Can also add support comments to other pages if it makes sense to that post, so if you were asking for support regarding AdSense best two places to post are either here or the Stallion AdSense Support page (where ever it’s posted I’ll respond). Long term I move comments off the main support page to relevant posts, if someone posts an AdSense question here I’ll move it to the AdSense page long term so related questions and solutions are grouped together for easier access.

Do I need to purchase for every site I have a theme or can use them for unlimited sites as long they are mine?
Stallion SEO Theme License
Each purchase entitles the user to use Stallion on as many of their own domains as they like. There’s currently no developer license. If I find a customer selling sites with the same Stallion ID that Stallion ID will be disabled.
If you own 1,000 sites you need one Stallion ID for your entire network.
If you sell sites running Stallion each site needs it’s own ID.
Basically one Stallion ID per user.

In fact, you said that a user who owned many domain can use only one id of stallation. So, how do I use? I have bought a domain for my brother, can I give this id for him to use this stallation theme?
Please clarify me! Oh, how do I add avatar on a comment when visitors visited my site and comments. I want to show avatar image for those visitors.
Thank you,

If it’s not your domain it would need a seperate Stallion ID. So your brother would need to buy a Stallion ID.
Go to gravatar.com and register an avatar for your email address.

Customizing the sidebar
I thought I had made this comment a couple days ago but don’t see it showing.
I would like to know how to customize the sidebar.
When I go to my widget option the sidebar shows as being empty. I want to remove and/or reorder what appear to be built in widgets like Links, Meta, Categories etc.
Thanks,

WordPress Default Widgets Confusion
A lot of WordPress users get confused on the widgets.
Many themes like Stallion have default widgets, you don’t remove these widgets because they aren’t added as actual widgets, they are hard coded in one of the template files and only show when no widgets are dragged and dropped into those widget areas. The actual widget areas start empty and not used until you add your first widget by dragging and dropping it into the widget area.
In the Stallion theme two of the widget areas have default hard coded widgets (the other widget areas have no defaults), when you add your first widget to the left sidebar the hard coded menu items are no longer used (the code isn’t loaded) and only widgets dragged and dropped into the left sidebar widget area is shown (same for the right sidebar).
Drag and drop a couple of widgets to the left widget area and the same for the right and view the home page and it will all make sense. Only add the widgets you want on your site.
On this site I use the left and right widget areas and the first 4 footer widget areas to achieve this look. There are other Stallion widget areas (11 in total) I’ve not used, but do use on other sites.

Re: WordPress Default Widgets Confusion
Hi David,
Thank you for your reply. I am very familiar with hard coded WordPress default widgets. In fact I assumed that is what these were. However, after inserting widgets into my sidebar and still seeing these default widgets as well I decided to comment here and ask for help.
After reading your reply I took a harder look at my blog. I found the problem and solution to what looks to be either a bug or a plugin conflict.
I am using the Right 310px sidebar layout option. When I go to widgets it shows both placement for both Left Sidebar and Right Sidebar. Sense I am using the right sidebar layout I would drop the widgets into that placeholder. As you can see on my test site at I have added both the Recent Post widget and a Text widget. Yet the Categories, Links, Meta, and RSS Feeds default widgets are still showing/loading.
The solution:
I need to load a widget into the Left Sidebar widget holder. That widget also loads in my Right Sidebar and causes the default widgets not to load.

Stallion SEO Theme Layouts and Widgets
All the widget areas are used in all Stallion layouts, so both the left and right widget areas are used in the Left and Right layouts. They are also used in the No sidebars layout, to literally have nothing in the left/right sidebar you add a blank Text widget to the left and right sidebar widget areas.
I see your original confusion you later discovered the solution for yourself, you’ve assumed for the Right layout you’d put everything in the right sidebar widget area and the Left layout put everything in the left sidebar widget area.
For the Left/Right layouts the left and right sidebar widget areas are stacked on top of each other and because of the way the layouts are generated not always in a logical way because of how the template files are coded** So when adding widgets for the Left and right layouts you still have to add at least one widget to each left/right sidebar widget area.
** Stallion is coded so the same template files (same HTML code) creates all the different layouts and colour schemes so no matter which layout you use you still get full SEO benefit. The layouts are created from different CSS files (one for each layout) which have no SEO impact. If you’ve ever tried to code what’s called the holy grail layout it’s a pain to get right, I also wanted to have the main content loaded high in the code AND have the 9 layouts without having to use different template files, REALLY difficult.

Updates
Hi David,
Do you offer free updates on your themes? I didn’t see it listed anywhere and sorry if missed.
Stallion SEO Theme Free Updates
Yes as long as I develop the Stallion theme updates will be free to customers.
If I ever decide not to develop Stallion any further I’ll give a years warning. Have no plans to stop developing Stallion so expect at least one years worth of free updates
I plan to make Stallion the most feature rich WordPress theme available (might already be the most feature rich???).
It’s already the best WordPress SEO theme available and a strong contender for the best WordPress Ad theme.

Theme Style
Hello Dave,
I like to buy this theme. I think I have to try this theme. Is it possible if want the theme like www.stallion-theme.com? white background and right sidebar and content which it looks great as yours here.
Thank you.
Stallion Delicate WordPress Theme
The Stallion theme site (this site) runs on default Stallion 6.2 (latest version).
Stallion includes 27 colour schemes (more to come in the future), this site uses Stallion Delicate. You can get a taste of them all on the right menu under the heading “Stallion Colour Switcher” that theme colour switcher is achieved using a free plugin called “Chameleon CSS” – I wouldn’t use the ability to switch colour schemes on sites generally, just for this site to show the Stallion colour styles.
Everything you see on this site is default Stallion except-
The Related Articles list at the bottom of posts is a free plugin I’ve modified called “Contextual Related Posts SEO Version”, download from one of my other sites at WordPress SEO Plugins.
The Aweber “Free Stallion Theme Updates” form on the right menu, that’s an Aweber form copy and pasted into a Text widget.
The Add to Cart Button, ability to buy Stallion, which is a premium plugin.
The ability to subscribe to comments is the free plugin “Gurken Subscribe to Comments”.
Everything else you see is built into Stallion. Obviously I had to make the images used in the top slider menu, the Stallion Support image etc…, but the slider code is built into Stallion. There’s another post slider built into Stallion, but I don’t use it on this site.
So yes

WordPress Custom Menus
Do you mean the drop down menu just below the header area starting with the “Stallion theme Support” link?
If so that’s built using WordPress custom menus, combination of WordPress core and Stallion options.
See WordPress Menu Manager Stallion Theme Feature
Need to update the above tutorial to take into account the four Stallion custom menu “Theme Locations” available:
Primary Navigation – Below the header
Secondary Navigation – Above the header
Footer Links – Within the footer
Photo Navigation – The sliding photo navigation menu (5 image links) you see below the header. Finally got around to creating some images for this site so I could use it, I think it looks great.

WordPress Post Teaser Plugin
You are using the Post Teaser plugin, looks like you have it set to show the entire post content.
Go to the Post Teaser settings page, reset the settings back to default and set the number of characters to what gives you the number of words you want to show.
Try 300 characters and see if that’s enough.

WordPress Plugins I Use on this Blog
I write in a technical way which must be difficult for those with English as a second language. Are you using the Stallion Google Translation widget on the right menu which will translate the entire site to other languages, does it help with translating to your main language?
All but the plugin I use for selling Stallion (the add to cart links) are free and listed below.
These are my SEO versions from WordPress SEO Plugins

Stallion WordPress SEO Plugin
These are free from the WordPress plugin repository (easy to find with a search).
Akismet – deal with comment SPAM.
Gurken Subscribe to Comments – allow users to subscribe to comments.
Move WordPress Comments – move comments areound.
Tweet old post – Add loads of Tweets automatically
WP-Optimize – manage your database.
Also testing
BulletProof Security – adds security features.
And I use Chameleon CSS for the theme switcher, but I wouldn’t recommend it unless you sell themes or need multiple CSS files to load.
I don’t use too many plugins on this site because it’s for selling a theme and if I added loads of plugins with features people who buy Stallion might think the plugin feature is built into Stallion. The plugins I’ve listed above only two of them have a visual effect on the site, the others are behind the scenes.
I use a few other plugins on other sites. From my recommended plugins list at WordPress SEO Plugins it’s worth checking out:
Post Teaser WordPress SEO Plugin – can be good for autoblogs where you don’t create the posts.
Most Popular Posts WordPress Plugin – adds a widget with the most popular posts based on the number of comments. I use this one on a lot of sites.
SEO Smart Links WordPress Plugin – good for internal linking.
WP-PageNavi WordPress Plugin – nicer navigation. I use this one on a lot of sites.
Because I’m turning Stallion into the most feature rich theme there is I’ve added a lot of plugin like features within Stallion, looks like you haven’t turned some of the good ones on.

Stallion WordPress Photo Navigation Menu
See Stallion Theme WordPress Navigation Menu Tutorial
Unfortunately you can’t associate images to categories so it’s not possible to currently use this WordPress custom photo navigation menu for categories, has to be posts and pages.
Adding images to categories is a feature I want to add in the future, but it’s not a WordPress core feature to be able to associate an image with a category, so needs some code hacking.

WordPress Permalinks Settings and .htaccess Rules
That’s the sort of error you might get with incorrect permalinks/.htaccess rules.
There’s nothing in Stallion that might cause something like that. Have you tried switching back to the theme you had running before Stallion, does it work?
Check your permalinks settings under
Settings > Permalinks
and your
.htaccess file rules, make sure they match the ones on the permalinks page.
Did you make any other changes between installing Stallion and checking a post and realising the posts aren’t loading correctly?
Highly unlikely Stallion is the cause.
David
Edit: I see you solved the problem within an hour or so of this comment, was it the permalinks/.htaccess rules?
